Safou also known as African Butter Pear is an extremely rare fruit from the middle of the Congo.
It tastes like a tangy avocado and is used in many ways. These need to be prepared by dipping in hot water for just a few seconds for them to become soft. You can then peel them and eat the green interior that is buttery and creamy. It is also used cosmetically as an anti aging skin care along with many other claimed benefits.
The seeds are beautiful and can be planted into trees.
